The above video is a lecture series I held March 28th and 29th at the Raikes School at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Wikibrands.I felt privileged to speak at the school that had previously hosted such power players as Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Twitter’s Evan Williams and CEO of the Bill Gates Foundation Jeffrey Raikes.
Interestingly, I learned on the way to Omaha and Lincoln that the author of Six Degrees of Separation Stanley Milgram started his experiment by getting random Nebraskans to try and reach out to a stockbroker in Massachusetts and proving the small world theory that Kevin Bacon has become attached to. Apparently the degrees of separation on Twitter is only 4.69, another win for the social technologies club!
Many thanks go to my executive sponsor and Raikes board chair Chris Howard, Director of the school Dr. David Keck, head of marketing and operations Lori McClung, Journalism prof Scott Winter, Business prof Nancy Mitchell and Amy Cassner-Sems, Technical Operations Coordinator, among others. I found the experience enlightening and a well-rounded and keenly interested student and faculty population. The future is in good hands based on the curricula and orientation of the students here. Here’s a summary of the lecture in the Daily Nebraskan.
